A.D....................................0.050 km The site contains unique restored monuments of Roman times, which are situated right next to the hotel on the Danube river bank. The ancient Roman tomb - a 4 c. AD monument of global significance with unique wall paintings.......................3 km Remains of a Roman villa called Urbana......2.5 km The Ethnographic Museum displays material and spiritual culture in South Dobroudja between 18th and 19th c. A.D. ...........................3 km The Museum of History is a combination of an architectural landmark and unique exhibitions. One of the most modern museums in Bulgaria, it displays tens of unique artifacts of Roman and Medieval Bulgarian culture, which have national and global significance. The museum contains over 60,000 movable cultural monuments..........1 km The town art gallery..................0.250 km It is the architectural landmark of Silistra and is over 100 years old. It has more than 1,500 works of art including paintings, black and white drawings and sculptures. The Orthodox church 'St. Petar and Paul'...0.5 km. It was built in 1862. The murals are drawn by the famous Bulgarian artist profesor Kozhuharov. When the ex Pope Saint John Paul the Second visited Bulgarian in 2001 he donated the relics of the Silistra Saint Dasii to the church. They are now near the alter. Kurshumlu mosque.....................1 km This mosque was built in 16-th century and it is a momunent of culture, very well decorated inside. The Danube garden.........0 km The hotel is situated in this garden and takes care for part of it. The garden itself was mentioned first in 1870,but was designed and opened earlier. This is the perfect spot in Silistra, where you can walk among ald trees and many flowers and have the Danuve river in your feet. In part of the Danubian garden are situated the northern remains of the Old Roman town-Durostorum. The turkish fortress Medjid Tabiya...........6 km Totally intact from time this fortification was built in 1853 by 300 Bulgarians after the project of the German engineer Helmut von Moltke. Today it is a museum and it shows the visitors interesting objects from the past of the fortress. Aydemir Monastery...............14 km The only active monastery in the whole Dobrudzha region. It was built in 1996 and until 1999 there were monks. Now it is changed and there are three nuns. There are uniqe glass vessels with wooden figures and crosses inside in the monastery. Students from the Veliko Turnovo university have drawn the icons and the murals. Sreburna Biosphere Reserve.........16 km The site is under the aegis of UNESCO. The International Coordinating Council of UNESCO defines it as a class A biosphere reserve. Only seventy sites in the world have such status. The reserve is 10 km away from the River Danube and covers 7sq.km. It is the temporary home to over 200 bird species, among them the Dalmation pelican,which breeds here.
