STAROSEL THRACIAN CULT CENTER If you want to make a short outing amidst nature and see the remains of ancient culture then visit the village of Starosel which is located near Hisarya. Here is situated the ancient Thracian tumulus in which was found a Thracian temple since 5-4th century before Christ. It is supposed that the Thracian ruler had been buried in it. The temple has been a cult complex and has exquisite architecture and grandeur. A view towards the whole of Thrace opens out from it. The entrance of the sanctuary is about 1. 60 meters wide and is propped up with processed limestone columns, which are decorated with different ornaments. The exterior of the temple is step-like the steps are nine, the lowest one is the highest, and each next step is lower. There is a supposition that there have stood stone lions on the pedestals but they have been stolen by treasure-hunters..................................20 km ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM You can learn about the rich cultural heritage of Hisarya if you visit the Archeological museum. It has two expositions archeological and ethnographic, and its exponents are located in five halls and a yard. There is a lapidarium, too. In the archeological sector are shown valuable exponents from different epochs, which have left their unforgettable mark on the resort town. The exhibited knives, stone axes, clay utensils will carry you back to the prehistoric past The Thracian and Roman culture you will find in the unique plastics, coins, church belongings and other. Traversing the museum halls you will pass through the early-Byzantine period, Middle Ages and you will reach the Bulgarian Revival, all exhibited in the ethnographic part of the museum. The articles on show from the life style - farming implements, clothing and fabrics - will reveal you in details the life of the old Bulgarians their daily round, working, holidays and customs...........................0,5 km KLISURA You can make an interesting excursion to the historical town of Klisura, which is situated amidst the beauty of the Balkan. During the April uprising in 1876 it became famous with the heroism of its residents after which it was entirely burnt down. In Klisura you can visit the Historical museum or see the ethnographic expositions in Chervenkov*s, Hadjiganchev*s and Kostakov*s houses. In one of the houses Pavrudjievs is found preserved an authentic rose-distillery for distillation of rose oil.
